Hi I'm Mike. I like helping artists around a new release or tour. And putting on shows from time to time. And posting stuff. Ask me everything.

Miniboone played a three week residency at Pianos in November. Here are photos taken by Bryan Bruchman at the final show of the run, which turned out to be a raucous event with a healthy mix of older and more recent Miniboone tunes, as well as an excellent cover of James Brown’s “Living In America.”

These photos, I took them.

Well done everyone!

MiniBoone “Man/Woman”
Definitely agree with Austin Town Hall that MiniBoone’s “Man/Woman” has a Futureheads vibe to it, especially in the front where Craig, Doug, and James pingpong vocals back and forth. From there the song blossoms into one of MiniBoone’s poppier numbers to date, all while still protecting their angular, rhythmic foundation.
Catch the Brooklyn quintet at Great Scott in Allston tonight, sandwiched between headliners Pretty & Nice, and Earthquake Party! who are celebrating their first release. The Clippers open, get there at 9pm for everyone.

MiniBoone “Brand New Thing”

“Brand New Thing” is from MiniBoone’s second EP, titled On MiniBoone Mountain, out November 8th on Drug Front Records.
The EP’s four songs take the framework laid out on January 2010’s Big Changes EP and March 2011’s The Other Summer/Fight Song 7” and stretch the definition of MiniBoone even further. “Brand New Thing” is a prime demonstration of the band’s frantic energy, replete with galloping layers of drums and bass, explosions of guitar noise, and tripled-teamed vocals.
Between CMJ and their November residency, you can find MiniBoone at the LES staple Pianos a lot in the next month and a half. Tonight (10/19), they open the What Blog?! CMJ Showcase at 7pm, and I’m excited to have them part of the Sippy Cup Everything CMJ Showcase on Saturday (10/22) at 9:45pm. The guys also curated three shows each Thursday in November except Thanksgiving. Flyer below, but read more at http://sippycupeverything.com/minibooneatpianos.

New song ‘Liars + Hiders’ showed a more aggressive side to MiniBoone, but then they were up-tropical with ‘Rosalina Must Dance Alone’. It all closed with a great rendition of Big Changes closer ‘Funny Money’ as the Half Moon pulled into port (which unfortunately meant no encore).

"This episode features MiniBoone, live from The Rock Shop. Slapping an oddball spin onto 80’s style club-rock, the five-piece is imbuing new life into a discarded dance floor scuffing tradition and adding their own quirky twist to the genre. They’ll tell you their show is like ‘Rick Springfield with a wink in his eye’; but maybe they’re more like a roller coaster, blowing past Brooklyn audiences in a grinning, lucid trance."
"Also on stage, as one of this week’s opening acts, is MiniBoone, a rock and roll band hailing from New York City… Their songs are loud and somewhat frenetic, but full of contagious energy. Having played in a variety of venues across the United States over the last few years, MiniBoone’s members are not strangers to the stage. Through their upbeat songs, MiniBoone oozes an intense entertainment factor demonstrating just how much the five-member band truly has fun with their music."

"It was their first time playing at Bonnaroo and you could tell they were super excited and it definitely translated into the performance with a lot of energy and goofiness that was fun to watch. I am not usually into indie rock or whatever you want to classify it as, but they definitely walked away with a ton of new fans."
