On MiniBoone Mountain is another proud notch in the NYC quintet’s belt, another batch of ingredients in their witches’ brew of caffeinated, unabashedly-delivered power pop. These four songs take the framework laid out on January 2010’s Big Changes EP and March 2011’s The Other Summer/Fight Song 7” and stretch the definition of MiniBoone even further. “Brand New Thing” is a prime demonstration of the band’s frantic energy, replete with galloping layers of drums and bass, explosions of guitar noise, and tripled-teamed vocals.

Like the rest of On MiniBoone Mountain, “Brand New Thing” has been perfected on the live stage, which they’ve recently shared with artists ranging from Real Estate to Art Brut to The B-52’s. Their wide-eyed energy and enthusiasm towards the live performance garnered them an invitation to perform twice at last summer’s Bonnaroo, as well as loving nods from NPR, Village Voice, and L Magazine. This is a band that wants you to smile, wants you to dance, wants you to have fun.

MiniBoone will be celebrating the release of On MiniBoone Mountain with a residency at Pianos in NYC for three Thursdays in November. Read up on details at

FEATURED PRESS (VIEW ALL)

The studio session for Big Changes sounds like it was fueled by an endless supply of energy drinks. MiniBoone recreates that frenzied feeling with every gig. The band’s members dance recklessly on and around the stage, tripping over wires and crashing into each other as they pummel the microphones. Despite MiniBoone’s wacky performances however, it takes serious skill to rock like they do.”
-NPR All Songs Considered | more

“MiniBoone is a breath of fresh air: The songs on their debut EP, Big Changes, burst at the seams with a frantic energy that hasn’t really been prevalent around here since, god, maybe Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.”
-The L Magazine on MiniBoone, one of “8 NYC Bands You Need To Hear” | more

“The band mixes the dervish energy of ‘78-era post-punk with the super-hooks of modern indie-pop—think Buildings And Food-era Talking Heads if David Byrne could travel back in time and tell himself about Arcade Fire.”
-Christopher Weingarten, Village Voice | more
