Carrots is the debut album from Young Mammals of Houston, self-released on CD, cassette, and digitally June 22nd, 2010.

Recorded in their hometown with producer and Grammy Award-winner Steve Christensen, Carrots shows a real sophistication within the pop realm. Already featured on the Urban Outfitters blog, opener and single “Confetti” serves as the perfect initiation. The Daily Texan wrote, “The marriage of traditional pop with experimental noise makes for arrangements that always surprise.” The “Dragon Wagon” music video was directed by fellow Houstonians Funwunce, whose name you may recognize from their Pitchfork and Stereogum-approved unofficial video for LCD Soundsystem’s “Home”.

The quartet embarked on three tours in 2010, their first in June+July began with a performance alongside The Flaming Lips, Medeski Martin & Wood and Girl Talk at Houston Free Press Summer Fest. The tour also included a stop at Northside Festival in Brooklyn, and shows with Cloud Nothings and Netherfriends. They shared stages with Male Bonding, Lower Dens, and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone during their premiere west coast tour in September, and wound up back in New York City in October for CMJ.

Young Mammals are brothers Jose and Carlos Sanchez, Cley Miller, and Ryan Chavez.
