SaraLee are still Sara and Lee, still one of the few Boston bands you could use to lure your grandparents into a basement show. Universally engaging songs on their demo, and thank god bigdog blogs like Get Bent! and QRO Mag are giving them proper props. Hoping for new recordings.
“Cabin”
Two Inch Astronaut are up in town from Silver Spring, MD, showing off jams from their Large Feather-released Red Pancake and the Dark Energy. Clearly the Dischord vibes are crossing the DC border, as these songs surge and ignite and twist and narrowly avoid destruction every time. No surprise they’re buds with locals Grass is Green, and recording a split with them this year.
“Power Baby”
Fat Creeps have been at it since late 2010, writing garage numbers and releasing them one or two at a time on their bandcamp. This nonchalance jangle makes for excellent nonchalant harmonies between frontwomen Gracie and Mariam, and it’s been exciting to witness the city taking notice.
